President's Message September 2020

angelinaGreetings fellow Metalsmiths!

We have a new video available in the Members Only Online Video Library, It’s the Spicula & Beyond Demonstration that Andrea Kennington hosted for us on July 18th.

YOU Should Host a Demo for MASSC!

We are looking for members who are willing to host an online demonstration or workshop via ZOOM. If you think you have a topic you can cover during the month of October please email to pitch your demo. Massc is paying $50 for each live online demonstrations over 30 minutes for the year 2020.  If you don't have a studio that is film friendly, John and Corliss Rose have set up a studio on camera in Tustin that they have offered to MASSC in case a member wanted to do a demo but didn't have the means to do it. If you are interested in using their studio please contact

MASSC is hosting a Virtual Metals Challenge Luncheon on October 3rd at 11:00 am.

It’s sad that we won’t have a chance to meet in person but the next best thing is sharing what people submitted for the challenge and hearing about people’s techniques and seeing in-process photos!  We are inviting anybody who bought a kit a chance to share their experience and their in-process images from their projects.

The online event is free and open to all MASSC Members. Oh yeah, BYO lunch/drinks.

This will be our fanciest online event yet so iron that shirt and dust off your jewelry for what is sure to be a fun afternoon of sharing and ogling (at jewelry and metalwork).

I hope to see you all there!

Last day to register for the Hammer Texture Workshop with Andrea Kennington is Sept 12th. Early registration is encouraged so that NC Black has time to make your kits and ship them to you. There will be no late registration.

Shirts and pins are a great way to show your support of MASSC:

We’re looking to host Demo Day in November this year so keep your eyes peeled for updates on that in the next newsletter.

Until then stay safe,

~ Angelina
